All American Apple Pie
Good Food Producer, Harriet Ells, shares with us her pie-making attempt this past Thanksgiving.
Inspired by all the yummy pies over at the Kitchn blog, I decided to make an apple-cranberry pie for Thanksgiving. And, since I would be eating the holiday meal in a 19th century Connecticut home, I thought I’d go the traditional route. It turned out beautifully but I have to admit that I cheated: I used Pillsbury pre-made pie crust. My grandmother used to make incredible pie crust by feeling her way through the dough – she didn’t measure a thing. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t inherit her pastry-making abilities. Listening to the Brass Sisters two weeks ago made me feel a little better about my culinary infraction.
