Bloody Mary Turns 75
The popular "hair-of-the-dog" cocktail has a rich lore. It was originally named "Red Snapper" because it was thought to be harsh and unpleasant. Contrary to popular belief, the drink is not named after Queen Mary I of England. It's actually named after a waitress at a bar named "Bucket of Blood."
Bloody Mary recipe from the Internet Cocktail Database:
1 1/2 oz vodka
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
Sprinkle salt, pepper and celery salt
Fill with tomato juice and ice
Serve in a tall glass and garnish with celery.
I've seen variations with Clamato, Tabasco and sake. Let us know how you make your Bloody Mary.
