Brave New Ocean at the Fowler
On Wednesday, January 28, head to the Fowler Museum at UCLA for a lecture by Dr. Jeremy Jackson of the Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
In his lecture, he will describe how habitat destruction, overfishing, introduced species, warming, acidification, toxins, and massive runoff of nutrients are transforming marine ecosystems and laying the groundwork for a great mass extinction in the oceans. He will address crucial questions about this "Brave New Ocean", including, how will these ecosystems evolve? What organisms will benefit and which will disappear? How can these trends be halted and reversed?
