Veronique sent this picture of her cherry pie:
I recently entered my apple pie in the Malibu Pie Festival and, thanks to the delicious See Canyon apples that go into the pie each year, won another ribbon. And though I also baked a cherry pie to enter into the fruit category, it came out so beautifully that we couldn't bear to part with it.
Sandra sent a picture of this yummy pie:
"Here is a photo of my husband Steve's now-famous rhubarb pineapple pie. I don't know where he found the recipe, but one evening he whipped one up and it was delicious. I froze some rhubarb from the garden, so he can make one to add to our Thanksgiving pie buffet. This year we'll be having pumpkin, apple, pecan and lemon pies, each in a vegan and non-vegan version."
Jenny was so inspired by the pie lollipops posted here a while ago, that she made her own:
"I made an apple pie like filling and used a squirrel cookie cutter I had just got at Ikea. I am not much of a baker by any means, but had a lot of fun and got funny looks from my friends when I said I made a Squirrel Pie Pop."
RIP Soupy Sales.
Good Food Producer Harriet Ells just returned from a wedding on Martha's Vineyard (MA), where the bride and groom served pie instead of wedding cake:
Eileen Blake's pies are famous on the Vineyard. Her husband sells them at a small roadside stand on State Road. Mrs. Blake died last year, but her daughter continues to bake in her tradition. Supposedly, the pies are a favorite of Bill Clinton. I can see why - they are delicious! At the wedding they served blueberry crumb (pictured), tollhouse and apple. Hands down favorite among the guests was the blueberry crumb.

On Monday I hosted a pie dinner with beer pairing for KCRW subscribers (it was a premium at the pledge drive). Christina Perozzi (aka The Beer Chick) paired some incredible beer with my pies.
A listener named M.J., who lives in Maine, told us about a pie party held every year by the women who run the shop Sage & Twine. The party is held in honor of Stella, one of the owner's mother, who died of cancer last year. This year's pie party was held on Saturday and from MJ's pictures, it looks like they had a great turnout:
